Most people see this as great technology, a step forward into the future, but I see it as a fuckin' death trap...

OK i guess you guess have never seen a sliding door on a mini-van....this is basically the same idea except the door slides down instead of across...so the problem of opening a vehicle door a high speed already exist as well as the lack of a door jam. On the issue of a malfunction or a dead battery..I'm pretty sure there is a manual override to allow the door to fall open via gravity.

Can somebody tell me why we don't have flying cars yet? I've been waiting since the first time I saw BTTF 2.

Just what we need, even smaller, more cramped parking spaces...

Probably no more or less so than with current door designs. It'd have to be tested empirically, rather than just jumping to conclusions like you did.

Everyone is correct... in a mild crash or your battery is dead, you are traped! |
