no, not 10´s of thousands of years ago, about3500 - 4000 years ago, and in this time germanian tribes didn´t exist yet. And of course greek is an indoeuropean language and ancient (proto-)greeks were indoeuropeans...I can´t understand why people who obviously didn´t ever read a book about a topic and have not even basic knowledge make big-mouthedcomments on youtube, it only makes them look foolish...

first 3 rows were angled to be thrusted down, the other rows had their spears up to deflect arrows and stones and etc

The Spartans and all Greeks may have immigrated from Germanic tribes 10s of thousands of years ago, but they adapted to the Mediterranean and are their own ethnicity. You can't say Italians and Greeks are the same as Germans cause they're slightly different. Although Greek is an indo-European language.

it means:either come home carrying your shield(victorious)or your commrades carrying you dead upon it.there was no other choice,no thought of retreat-fight and win or die

They were told to come back "with their shield or on it" ("e tan e api tas") not cause the shield was so valuable but because they were not allowed to left the battlefield, the ancient Greek shields were so heavy that anyone who retreated or deserting couldn't bear it and he was leaving it in the battlefield (there is a expression "ripsaspis" meaning "the one who dropped his shield" in free translation meaning the deserter).
