The episodes actually weren't that bad. Like so many things, "unacceptably commercial" in that era was better than "wholesome" stuff in this one with regards to characterization & plots. I remember their unscrupulous rival, Dexter, always pulling shady stuff like secretly mixing nitro into his fuel mixture - then they had to save the creep from himself.

not really,they didnt have the money to promote hotwheels like that in the beginning (as told in the "40 years of Hotwheels"book.)as for speed buggy,it was a spin off and was around before the frist actual "Speed Buggy" which puts them around the same time.

Maybe SR, but speed buggy came out AFTER this...do the time line. Hot Wheels - 1969...Speed Buggy - 73/74 timeframe?
