Spurgeon was a good man, but we do not have a hand-me-down religion. Everyone today must have what the early Christians all had.

If you know Jesus you will meet him. Isn't that incredible? Of course Jesus is the ultimate gift, but meeting all the people who Jesus has used to shape our faith is also a great treat as well.

I think the scriptures are clear that God makes some for honor and some for dishonor and who can question Him. God has reserved the wicked for judgement and chosen others to be His bride. Every man chooses his own bride and every man does with his possessions as he wishes, how can we think God cannot. The gospel certainly touches the ears of all men, but not all men have ears to hear nor faith to believe, so the universal call is actually a very precise call to only the elect
