What is that supposed to mean? Many geologists come to Australia for the great salary and job oportunities. Btw someones salary does not indicate how good of a geologist they are.

...but there are other fields of geology which im sure have less of a negative impact on the enviroment and do their work with more of a "clean conscience"

i agree with you emmy.....there are geologists who work for big companies and industries and are consulting the leaders who make the desicions on where to drill for oil or where to mine for other minerals in which case then the enviromentalists come in to attempt to stop whats going on using their background knowledge in similar studies to geoology...one essentially can create a job for the other lol...there are those who do that and i guess, like many, simply have to make a buck

It seems to me from watching the video that the people didnt particually respect the enviroment.I assumed this because in the video at the point 0:41 when he let the rock fall down, he could have damaged something and he wasnt being very thoughtful. Its these little things which people disregard can possilbly damage the eviroment. Also geologist who study oil Arn't really helping the enviroment. But maybe I do have a poor understanding of Geology and need to educate myself more about it.

A professional geologist respects and is duty bound to ensure the continued health of the environment and its constituents. Your comment likely comes from a poor understanding of what the earth science profession is about. You should contact your local professional earth science association for more information before passing judgement. I hope this helps you.

So I suppose Geologist destroy the enviroment more then saving it. I want to become a geologist because I thought they helped the enviroment.
