It is love, and had they been closer in age, it would've ruined the sentiment and message of the film. People can connect with each other, possibly fall in love, regardless of a generational gap while coming to terms with crippling personal anxieties in a foreign culture on the other side of the world. Best movie I've ever seen.

I guess we're all kinda "lost" and we are all looking for that connection.. our "Charlotte" or "Bob" if you will. I do envy you all who may have already found "Charlotte" or "Bob".Thanks again for posting this.

They simply don't make romantic movies anymore. In the 30's, 40's, and 50's they were all over the place. Now all we have are "romantic comedies" because as a society we are too immature to handle a straight romance film like this one. What makes this a masterpiece romance film is that the main characters do not get together in the end. They do not have sex, they barely even kiss. All they do is love each other. It's a beautiful sentiment if you think about it.

I saw this movie in the theater five years ago, and while it has haunted me ever since, and though the soundtrack has been in constant revolution in my playlists, I waited until tonight to finally watch it a second time. I figured at last that it was time to eavesdrop on their little moment. Thanks for sharing. :) |
