To me it's a take on the biblical story, but with a different ending. God tags Samson to take out the Philist., but he cannot cut or shave his hair. He falls in love with Delilah, who tests him nightly to find the source of his strength, on the final night she cuts his hair, and his strength is lost. I think she's singing it as: what if Samson didn't destroy the Philist. in his final hour? "He couldn't bring the columns down, and history books forgot about us, andthe bible didn't mention us.."
