Because they were the first who really used the term: "Black Metal"All following Black Metal bands were infleunced by their work. So maybe Venom is the only actualy BM band all all others are a poor copy. Venom were The pioneers, no doubt. Mayhem is just closer to what is made today.

Yes. And I understand what you mean. However, Darkthrones last two albums are not Black Metal, its punk. And Venom is just as much Heavy Metal as other heavy metal-bands, what gives them the right to call themself BM?

Mayhem took the final step?So Venom made the first. What else as Black Metal is it then if they made the beginning.Black Metal isn't supposed to be grim. Listen to Darkthrone's "Raised on rock".Mayhem is not seen as "true" by many of the old Black Matel Bands. They play the "bad boys" with their rediciolous stage shows.Who loves Dimmu Borgir proves to have no idea. What you say sounds a lot like Wikipedia.What BlackMetal is today doesn't mean to be true my friend.

Venom is a blackened thrash/speed metal-band from Brittain. Venom was along with Mercyful Fate, Celtic Frost and Bathory the pioneers of the first black metal-wave" Its ok, that Venom was the first brick in a evolvement called Black Metal. First the Heavy Metal, from there Venom made it blackened. Norwegian band Mayhem took the final step, and made BM what it is today. True Black Metal is Norwegian anyways. They was inspired by Black/Trash/Speed Metal-band Venom, and created Black Metal.

No there not realy saatanists,just like slayer they play this whole anti-christ thing, but all there doing is trying to make shock music.. Back then shock music is what sold. Look at slayer and all of there lyrics. Listen to South of heaven,God hates us all,etc. and you'll think slayer is full of anti-christ,but the lead singer is catholic. So realy its al for the sake of record sale.

If today we have Thrash Metal, Death Metal and Black Metal, thank Venom for it.Big metal bands like Slayer and Metallica would not exist without this influence.
