This song is about the freedom and solitude in the vastness of the West. Within the movie, it's central to the message: I am alone to reinforce the law, I just have my conviction of doing the right thing. This is what renders those characters admirable. You don't have to like it but I feel sorry for those people who can't appreciate beauty because it must be approved by political correction and their views on what people should think about war, weapons, minorities, etc. A sad education indeed.

Reading these comments I can never understand why there is always some idiots that have to make unrelated comments about the above clip. You just come across as crass and dumb. People that do this must go onto youtube just to upset others instead of searching for things they realy love, clearly these poeple have no interest in anything. Go and get a life and learn some manners.

I love Dean Martin and what was true for him in politics is true for him. I try to respect everyone's opinion. Dean is the best!

What a wonderful clip of two of the best and most charismatic singers! Heartwarming!

Who cares he can sing, he was charismatic, and a fantastic performer. I don't understand why anyone would care about his political convictions, I mean Robert Mitchum supported the Vietnam war, everyone loved him during that time. People are more enjoyable when you don't give a sht about these things, you can still respect them even if you disagree with them. And for the record Vietnam is a better country then it was before the war, it seems that to people violence is inevitable.

This movie is a great classic, and this song is a classic too, allthough i don't normally like music in westerns. |
