there's nothing religious whatsoever about the ending. the film was allegorical of a sinking marriage, not religion, and the ending is standard utopian anti-nuclear sci-fi. terrific movie, extremely underrated.

Because making movies is about profit now. Movies made 20-30 years ago are 10 times better than they are now. Back then, movies were made for the audience instead of for the maker's profit.

I know I will get hated for this but I absolutely detest the movie's pseudo-religous ending. I recently watched it on TV and found the movie well done, but I guess the main reason it is so much loved is that people had never seen anything like this before in 1989, not that it is very good.

The music used in this trailer is from an IMAX film called CHRONOS, and was composed by Michael Stearns. Awesome soundtrack for an often overlooked IMAX film I might add.

Jau, Cameron hat hier wirklich klasse Arbeit geleistet, hab mir den Film eben noch mal im TV angesehen...vor allem das Ende hat wirklich schon etwas episches. 5*

It does not mean water...It means a chasm, gulf, split, crack, gap, pit, opening, breach, hollow, void, gorge, crater, cavity, ravine, cleft, fissure, crevasse, bottomless depth
