This guys has a lot of luck, because it was so close as the whole bottled exploded. One time it happened to me in a night club in South Africa. The problem was, that the glass of the bottle was very very thin and i didnt know that. I tried to saber it and the whole bottle exploded. The problem wasnt, that I was the Idiot- almost nobody noticed. The problem was, that a part of the broken bottle flew to my right arm and cut a big piece of meat out of it. If you use a warm bottle of champagne, the pressure is too great and the bottle will explode. By chilling it you weaken the glass at the neck enough that it will break easily and less of the C02 will be pressing on the neck. Just enough pressure will be there to saber the top off but not enough to break the bottle.

What cause's a negitive result while doing this? Like the other videos on yt ive seen where the whle bottles breaks. I want to do this so bad but i dont want to ruin a bottle at a party and feel dumb. Ill practice before but im just wondering, what causes a bad outcome?

You are correct. This was actually the very first time I ever sabered a bottle. As you'll see in a comment above, I was hotdogging...meaning, I went for it in public without practicing in private. Thankfully, I didn't destroy the bottle. If you search for other Tesauro videos, you'll see me doing it on GoodDay Atlanta and explaining how to do it properly. Ever since that first time, I always slide and never chop. Still, I'm grateful for that bit of beginner's luck.

Tesauro here. Ah yes, the delay. On this particular day, I was hot dogging a little bit Instead of removing the wire cage, I left it on. Thus, when I hit the annulus (the bottle lip), the glass broke as usual, but it took a moment for the bubbly's pressure to dislodge the cage and send the top flying. Does that answer your question?
